In 2018, I had a battery related failure when flying at a pretty good distance, halfway up the mountain side at the NFA Whittington Center. A sudden drop in voltage caused the GPS and Compass sensors to go offline, and my drone spun out of control and crashed to the ground. We recovered it later, but it suffered a cracked air frame and had to be grounded.
So I ordered a new body off Amazon! The disassembly looked complex, but it wasn’t near as bad as it looks. Ultimately, the rebuild came about because I upgraded to a Phantom 4, and one of my buddies was interested in the repaired Phantom 3.
